Practice speaking in a supportive space

PRACTICE SESSION: Tuesday December 17th, 12:05pm Eastern Time

Give a 60-90 second impromptu speech on a topic randomly selected from this list.

Impromptu speaking is a skill that improves with practice

The majority of speaking that you do at work is not in planned, prepared speeches… it’s impromptu speaking.

It’s when your boss asks for a project update during staff, when you run into a co-worker in the hall, or when you’re asked a question that you didn’t anticipate during a meeting.

If you feel like:

  • People can’t follow what you’re saying

  • You ramble too much

  • You’re less effective than you could be

Let’s practice together!

Practice sessions are an opportunity to practice impromptu speaking in a supportive environment. This session is modeled after the ‘table topics’ segment of Toastmasters meetings. Here’s how it works:

  • The day before the session, you will be provided with a list of potential topics and the line up (who is speaking 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc)

  • There is no pre-work required (that’s kinda the point)

  • All participants will give a 60-90 second impromptu speech on a topic selected at random

  • Following your speech, participants will chat with insights to help you improve

PRACTICE SESSION:

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17TH 12:05-12:55pm Eastern Time

Can’t make this date but interested in future practice sessions? Share your email below to get notified.

Registration is on a first come, first served basis and will be capped at 20 participants. Please ONLY register if you can commit to attending at the date and time listed above.

Why $2? Because I’ve found when people pay money, no matter how little, they are more committed to show up.
